When the Democratic National Convention announced that it was holding the 2016 gathering in Philadelphia, we had to go. I obtained four press credentials, one for me and three for the students.

It was an enormous amount of work. I set up interviews for the students with the Delaware governor as well as U.S. Senators Chris Coons and Tom Carper. They covered rallies and protests during the day and then we went down to the main center at night for the speeches. They were in the room when Hillary Clinton accepted the nomination and when Gold Star father Khizr Khan offered to lend Donald Trump his copy of the U.S. Constitution.

They live blogged all week under #UDatDNC and their stories were picked up by The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Delaware News-Journal, Delaware Today and WHYY, the local NPR affiliate.

They were hired- and paid -by MediaShift to write stories on how the press there was covering the convention. WHYY ended up interviewing the students about their experience.

It was a terrific and exhausting week.
